Question on why a c/o wouldnt be installed above the trap arm. This makes a whole lot more sense to me. Then you could run hot water cleaning your snake while you pull it out. Not to mention less head water, less mess

I've done it both ways. It does make more sense. Just one of those things I guess. I've thought of that too. :)

Well, most of our cleanouts face the exterior of the building so I CAN run the hot water while snaking the line. The few times I TRIED to put the cleanout above the arm, the inspectors failed it. They wanted the tee where the plug would be in the water flow for some reason.
