I'm just finishing my bathroom remodel, and my clawfoot bathtub gurgles loudly from the overflow drain. It seems to take about 3-6 seconds for the gurgling to start, and then remains until the tub is drained. I've tried a number of different configurations with venting the pipe, and the only one that seemed to stop the gurgle was venting above the p-trap. I realized that this would introduce sewer gas to the bathroom, so I tried venting just after the p-trap and the gurgling continued. I even tried venting the pipe directly to the crawlspace (just for troubleshooting purposes, see picture) and the tub still gurgled. Also, I've tried adjusting the angle of the drainage pipe because I heard that the speed of the water can cause gurgling, but to no avail. Any ideas?
