I have a precast cistern that Ive had since 1983. It is a 3 section with 2 seams that runs horizontally around it. It started leaking a few years ago, and I patched it with hydraulic cement and painted theroseal as well. That would hold the crack seam for about a year. But here lately it only hold for about 6 months. its always leaks in the seam where a hair size crack forms. I can't tell but I think it must be moving since the crack keeps coming back. What can I use to seal it? something flexible?

Thanks for any advise.

Has anyone ever used or heard of Sika top seal 107? It says it flexible and for potable water.
Thanks

Just like a leaking basement wall, nothing will permanitely seal it from inside. To permanitely seal such a leak is to dig around the outside down to just below the leak then fill in around the seam or crack with Bentonite Grout (an approved well sealing clay). Once the Bentonite gets wet it will swell and seal the leak from the outside permanitely. Bentonite can be purchased from almost any well driller or wholesale well supplier.

I think he is coating the INSIDE. I see mesh tape and elastomeric made for submersion. Or plaster galv. lath and a coat of stucco with bentonite added.

The basement pressure pushes IN. His water is pushing out. You can get in a cistern but not outside a basement wall.
