Cherne Clean-Seal thread leak

Hi, first post, thanks for the listen.

Instructions say to not tighten the device too tightly.
It seems to seal the drain quite well but water sneaks by the threads when you release the pressure.
With a couple floors of water above it, it can shoot out a lot!

Tighten harder (wrench) or teflon tape? What do you guys do?

Bump.

I wrenched it.
Wrapped it with a towel and released the air pressure quickly.
