centrifugal start/run switch not engaging

changed out the start capacitor matched to a 1/2 hp pump.....it kicks in now and then but within a day gets hung up, over heats and shuts down......I can manually turn the shaft a bit, give it power and it runs till it hangs up again

Sounds like bad windings to me, not the start/run centrifugal switch.

You should be able to lube the Weights. And make sure the points aren't pitted.

That will work if the motor is up to speed.
