My valve was leaking this morning and before calling a plumber out, I wanted to try to replace it myself. I went to Home Depot and noticed a bunch of different types of valves... Are you able to tell me what type I have?

Thanks in advance!

I think that is compression. You will want to replace the escutcheon while you are taking things apart and you can get the nut off, and replace the valve with a 1/4 turn ball valve. They are more reliable generally.

You will probably need a Compression Sleeve Puller to get the ferrule and nut off.

There appears to be enough copper rough for you to cut the old one off and slip a sharkbite over it.

What Reach4 said, what you want is high-quality dahlvalve.

You currently have one of those cheap Brasscrafts. They work fine for about 5-10 years. After that they often seize and leak as yours.

Home Depot will sell both. Compares the prices for the two, and you will understand you get what you pay for.

I think this is the compression angle stop you have. Check out the video in the link:

They are easy to replace and easy to rebuild
The valve needs to be fully open or fully closed for it not to leak. If it leaks when fully open around the stem you could t replace the washers.
