I just replaced a manual sprinkler valve with an automatic one (that I bought used at a garage sale, so maybe that's the problem). Anyway, it's a Watermaster Model 57023, I installed it in the right direction for the anti-siphon, and the timer/control box is working properly. The problem is, the valve won't open unless I back out the bleeder valve. When I first set it up, I closed the manual flow adjust valve and bleeder valve, turned on the water with "manual on" at the control box, then backed out the bleeder valve until the main valve opened, then I opened the manual flow adjust valve to get the flow I wanted at the sprinklers. All great so far. But when I turn off the valve at the control box and then try to turn it back on, nothing happens unless I back out the bleeder screw farther, which then leaks. Am I doing something wrong, or did I just buy a bum valve?
And, Thank You!
