Currently there is a utility sink and washer drains into the sink. I'd like to plumb a washer drain and supply lines. There is also a potfiller line that goes to the kitchen on the other side of the garage wall. The previous owners plumbed this with a weird long loop of pipe on top of the drywall. I would like to use PEX for the supply lines to the washer and potfiller. The DWV looks like cast iron to me and connects to galvanized steel vent.

Also, I think the vent has to be above flood level of the washer but how do you determine that? Is it where the water line connects to the washer?

Flood rim level is where water would spill over a fixture, i.e. for a vaniety it would be the height of the countertop (bowl fills and spills over countertop), for a toilet it would be the bowl height and so on...

So the vent must rise vertically at least 6" higher than the flood rim level of a fixture or 42" above the floor

Ok so for a front load washer it would be the bottom of the door. I guess it also would depend on whether it's on a pedestal.

You want to be six inches above the countertop for the sink and six inches above the standpipe for the washer.
Normally 42" off the floor is good.
