Hi all,

First time poster, long time reader. I'm adding a bathtub to a bathroom plumbed for a shower only. The space is very tight, and I'm trying to wrap my head around how to make the new drain fit. Please take a look at the attached two schematic drawings -- is either (or both) of them valid for tying into an existing drain branch? This is of course assuming I can get the slope right, etc. Thanks in advance!

You normally would want to combine your drains either at where the vent is, or after it, so each one has its own vent. In the second drawing, even though the right-hand one has its own vent, it's being added into the drain arm of the left-hand one before its vent.
