Just wondering if this will work and not back up the shower drain when the toilet flushes. I am going to add a vent just before the shower, I just haven't done it yet. If this is the dumbest thing you've ever seen please give me some ideas to run it differently. The main stack is right behind the toilet flange

I know for a fact that the toilet flushing into that santee will dump a lot of solid waste on the shower side.
You should have a wye fitting for the toilet to prevent that. Even if that means that the shower wyes off before you pick up the toilet.
Why haven't you cut into the line lower? Doing the goofy down and under the other pipe is just weird. And yes, the shower will need a vent.
