4" mini-spread in 8" wide-spread holes?

Hi,

Found a faucet we like, but it's a 4" mini-spread.
Vanity top we have has 8" wide-spread holes though...

So, what are differences in these 2 faucet sizes? Is it just the size
of the faucet, ie, 8" is a bit taller and reaches into the sink further?

Or is there some limit under the top when I go to hook it up that will
prevent me from installing the 4" mini-spread into the 8" holes?

Is the 4" in three pieces -- two faucets and a spigot? If so, take a look at the parts supplied for connecting the faucets to the spigot to see whether those lines can be easily replaced with longer ones.

Mini's usually have a one piece body that is fixed at 4". A normal widespread can range from 4" to 12" but the trim pieces are larger so that they would either not fit a 4" sink, or there would be little room between them at 4" giving a "weird" appearance. The conventional wide spread usually has a larger spout also. But, most companies that make a mini also make an 8" with the same appearance.
