11 1/4" Toilet Rough-In: 10", 12", or custom order?

I want to replace the default toilets in our house. The rough-in measures 11 1/4" from the wall (wall, not the base-board going around the bottom). I am looking at the American Standard model 3378.128.020.

For this toilet, will I need to have it ordered to be 11 1/4" (or 11")? I presume the 12" is completely out of the question. The bolts are are of the floor, which is concrete and tiled.

Most of the 12" rough toilets will work at 11-1/4" so I'm thinking get the 12" rough.

I know the Toto Drake will work at 10-7/8"

Terry, could I assume from this that a Toto Aimes with 14" unifit should work for a 13 1/4" rough in?

    Thanks!

Yes. the Aimes should have 3/4" behind it on a normal rough.
On a 13-1/4" rough, the 12" would leave 2" behind the tank, and the 14" would have the back touching the wall.
You may want to move the unifit out a bit, so that the toilet doesn't touch with the 14"
There is a little bit of play with the adapter and the drain.

Thanks Terry. I should be able to move the flange bolts slightly forward, and if necessary I can replace the 1/2" drywall behind with 1/4" - that should get me up to 1/2" extra room I'm guessing.

I would stay with the 1/2" drywall and just nudge the bolts out.

That would be my first choice too :)

I would estimate that a custom built toilet.....set-up charge = $12,000. Minimum order after set up...50 pieces, $900 per piece.

According to the math I learned, it will give you a 1/4" and a wall that would have a hole in it if a baby fell against it. There is NO WAY to "custom order" a toilet for an 11 1/4" rough. Either the toilet fits or it does not, and you have to measure the actual toilet to find out, since every make and model is different. Some need 12" and others will work on 11" with the majority somewhere in between the two dimensions.

I installed the Aimes this weekend and it fit perfectly with the 14" rough in with 13.25" - could not fit any better in fact!

I like that this model has little covers on either side to cover up the water supply to the tank - I was able to redo my copper/shutoff to come out of the wall behind this panel for a completely hidden supply to the toilet - looks very nice if I do say so myself :)

    Cheers

    Okay, now we need pictures.
800 pixels or less will work.

Nice pictures. I like how you were able to plumb behind and conceal the supply line.
