    I've found that teflon paste applied on top of 3 wraps of teflon tape to be the way to go for such connections. Also do the wet rag wrap in certain situations. Good luck with the fix.

    I agree with Terry. This sure sounds like expansion/contraction of the PVC pipe as it heats/cools, as the pipe passes tightly through a wood member. This is especially prevalent in cold weather and when the pipes are located adjacent to exterior walls.

    Sounds like Cass is correct... I would say that the shower arm stub-out is capped and the shower valve is open - thereby creating a cross connection. Your remodel is surely done by now, but there you have it!
