PEX okay for underground irrigation system?

Thanks. Hadn't considered that. So would need an adapter when connecting to the timer and heads. Would that be a problem?

PEX okay for underground irrigation system?

I'm a DIYer and have a sod delivery arriving Monday for my small suburban yard (2500 S.F.). Last minute it occurred to me that a simple irrigation system with 3-4 heads would be a god send, so ideally need to get something in the ground this weekend. I'm looking at the Orbit system, which takes...

Insulate undersized supply pipes to quiet them?

Thanks HJ. Due to my ongoing reno, I have access to 90% of the system (it's mostly in my exposed basement ceiling and one open wet wall). Do you think I'd still see negligible results?

Insulate undersized supply pipes to quiet them?

I'm remodeling and ripped out all my 1" plaster and am replacing with 1/2" gypsum board. Because of this, I'm realizing how loud my supply pipes are. In particular, when a toilet or tub fills. It's a 60 y.o. house and the pipe's are 1/2" throughout, so undersized. The the pressure and supply are...

Is 1/2 inserted into ABS fitting OK?

I'm a home owner. I don't have a code book. Regardless, I'm just liking to know whether it will hold.

Is 1/2 inserted into ABS fitting OK?

Can you elaborate? is the concern that it will fail down the road even of it's not leaking now?

Is 1/2 inserted into ABS fitting OK?

I'm just finished installing my 3" drain for a new powder room. I got the pipes inserted the full 1.5" in each fitting except one pipe that was in a really cramped spot, which I only got inserted half way (3/4") into the fittings on each end. Its supported with straps and well glued. Because...

Code clearance between ABS and recessed lighting?

Thanks for the thoughts. Below is a pic of the fixture. It's installed in a basement acoustic tile ceiling. The sticker reads, "Warning: Risk of fire. Do note install insulation within 3" of fixture sides or wiring compartment, nor above fixture in such a manner as to entrap heat." I was...

Code clearance between ABS and recessed lighting?

I'm installing a new ABS drain and have a recessed can in the same joist bay. Is there a code requirement for how close I can be to the lighting fixture? There was some discussion in the archive to follow the lighting mfg recommendations, but its an existing light and I don't have anything on...

Whether to caulk and scribe my vanity

I'm finishing up an install of the vanity in the pic. The vanity cabinet and sink are fastened to the wall with lags in blocking and anchor bolts in plaster so it seems quite secure. I made sure the sink was level, but after the install I noticed that the floor isn't level, so the front of the...

Two designs of a new washroom for review

Ah. That clarifies what was confusing me. So wet vents are OK provided their short/restricted to the same floor. Thanks! Now I'm curious - why are long wet vents between floors a problem?

Two designs of a new washroom for review

Thanks guys. "A" it is with a 2" vent. Wet venting makes my head spin...

Two designs of a new washroom for review

Thanks hj. I'll install "A" as drawn. What's wrong with "B"?

Two designs of a new washroom for review

I'm adding a half-bath to on the first floor and tying into an existing sanitary line for the full bath above. Below are two designs. Design "A" runs the vent for the half-bath above the flood level of the fixtures in the full bath. Design "B" is a bit simpler on paper, but the existing riser is...

Need feedback on sink P-trap below floor level

Thanks for the clarification! Unfortunately, I started. I have the drain portion installed and was about to put in the AAV when it occurred to me that I could run the vent loop above the flood level. Its just as well. The trap wasn't as accessible from below as I thought. Is my vent-loop design OK?

Need feedback on sink P-trap below floor level

Thanks guys. I appreciated the feedback. I'm leaning toward the AAV route. There's one optional scenario that just occurred to me that I'd like to run by you. I have enough room in the wall behind the sink loop a vent 1/2" or so over the flood level of the sink before it dives under the floor...

Need feedback on sink P-trap below floor level

Not sure why you say I'm not listening. As I said in my previous post, I'd run 2" pipe between the joists back to the existing stack (where it would vent). The sketch below shows illustrates my question. The configuration on the left is my original configuration, which my understanding is that...

Need feedback on sink P-trap below floor level

I've been reading up on my configuration some more and came across the sketch below. I would have thought a P-trap above the floor but vented below was effectively an S-trap. If not, I could install the P-trap in the cabinet space with a short arm then run the 2" pipe between the joists to the...

Need feedback on sink P-trap below floor level

Thanks Mike. So my original design meets Canadian code? Do you recommend any tweaks to my design? I'm hoping to tackle this this weekend.
