Am I the only one who hates ADA height?

I hate ADA height toilets and hope that they don't foist them on us.

    New Pressure Tank Installation

Do keep in mind that the snifter/check is only half of the air-maker system. The other half ( bleeder) is down inside the well casing. Sometimes the bleeder is simply a hole drilled and not a proper bleeder. Bleeders come in two versions, (metal or plastic) and may have to be removed when...

    New Pressure Tank Installation

Is that A snifter/check air-maker on the left side of the picture? An air-maker will put air into the water side of the top of the diaphragm which will reduce the amount of water that tank will hold. Air-makers are generally used with a hydro-pneumatic tank, not on a captive air tank.

    Well recharge at different depths

you have to be careful not to have an up-thrust condition with a deep well pump when the static water level gets high.

Opinions on Grundfos 10S05-9 to replace a Goulds 10GS05

If I didn't have the micronizer acting as a dole valve that pump might not have lasted 14 years. Last night when the iron filter backwashed for 30 minutes, the pump ran constantly while the pressure dropped to 22 PSI since the micronizer limited the GPM to 6.5. When there is little draw, the...

Opinions on Grundfos 10S05-9 to replace a Goulds 10GS05

The pump man look the old pump away so I'll never know. The new pump had a lot shorter motor. I didn't get any paperwork on it but I think it is a Franklin.

Opinions on Grundfos 10S05-9 to replace a Goulds 10GS05

Another followup 14 years later... the pump died yesterday. At least it was a nice day to pull the pump and I found a very nice pump man to come out right away to help so I got the water back on within hours. I have no idea how much it will cost me.

    Rewiring a tank pressure switch?

You already said that there is no AVC. What Cary mentioned is a bleeder that may accompany one type of AVC but it has not been confirmed there is a bleeder nor a snifter/check.

    Rewiring a tank pressure switch?

I think you mean "AVC" (Air Volume Control) and not "AAV" (Air Admittance Valve). An AAV is what is sometimes used to vent a sewer drain. There are two basic versions of AVC. One only bleeds excess air and the other admits air. Given that your tank waterlogs, I doubt you have a separate...

    New convertible well pump

That is not an option. You need to use the injector on the pump if the water level is high enough for a shallow well configuration.

No grid plate, also no brine tube cover at the bottom of tube

I concur that a salt grid and brine well with overflow check in a larger tank are important. My water guy supplied me with too small of a tank as motioned in this thread.

New Shallow Jet Pump and Pressure tank…inconsistent water pressure

How much pressure can the pump build? If you increase it to 40/60 that will give you 10 PSI more pressure.

Pressure Tank or Well Pump Issue?

    According to the specs: Drawdown @ 40/60 PSI 8.6 Drawdown @ 30/50 PSI 9.9

Pressure Tank or Well Pump Issue?

I suspect the water and air pressure gauge is reading wrong and you are are pre-charging too high. You need to calibrate the two.

Pressure switch 30/60? Why 20 PSI range

It may overstretch the diaphragm if it doesn't have an internal dome limiter.

Copper stubouts for Pex or not?

When installing the angle stops, leave them long enough to slide the compression nut back far enough to get an olive remover on it to split the old ring.

Low pressure in whole house, also a good amount of air in the lines

With high iron, the inside of the pipes will build up with iron restricting the flow. You may need to replace some of the pipes if you cannot snake them out. When doing so, you will probably also have to snake out the fittings on the tank. When I replaced my iron filter, I also replaced the...

Is Iron filter using lots of water for backwash?

As I mentioned, the pump runs on a curve, so the GPM will be higher when the pressure is lower and when the water level in the well is higher. If your well recovery rate is lower than the draw rate, the well recovery rate will trump the pump's delivery rate. To calculate the pump's delivery...

Is Iron filter using lots of water for backwash?

The 3/4" PEX is a choke point and will cause a pressure drop at high GPM. If you used PEX B with compression fittings, they are more of a choke point. While that is not the root of your problem, it can reduce the GPM and cause inadequate backwash as will deliberately reducing the DLFC GPM. If...

Suggestions to stop sump pump PVC discharge pipe from freezing

Is is not too hot to touch so I doubt there is any risk of it melting PVC so long as it is not coiled up.
