Remove
It is not easy but possible
Once you succesfully unscrew the cartridge you will have to wiggle it loose with pair of plyers
If too hard to unscrew use any home depot or lowes product for loosening

I am about to replace my shower cartridge part 47111000 any hints or suggestions from forum members? ( the reason for replacement is age {20+years} and extreme effort needed for turning the thermostatic valve ).
