    softner or filter needed?

A BIRM (Best Iron Removal Media) filter will remove the iron. There is no salt needed or any other regeneranet for the system. That means very limited maintenance required.

    water softener tank

I came across a vortech tanks a few weeks ago. The customer was complaining about resin in the house. Come to find out the tube broke free from the distributor. Upon close inspection I found that the tube was not glued just snapped in. I say, don't waste your money on the vortech.

    Power Outage Question

The first thing that came to mind with me was the fact that there is an injector system. That means some serious problems with the water and to ignor the injector when the power goes off could be causing a lot more problems. What does the injector control? Iron, bacteria or h2s?

    Discharge from Manganese Greensand filter

I would recommend a chlorination system followed by a carbon filter. Not only do you sanitize the water, you also oxidize the iron and manganese then the carbon filter will remove them as well as the chlorine from the water.

    Discharge from Manganese Greensand filter

I have seen the unit drain in a french drain, into the septic and on the ground. I feel the same as Gary, there are better ways the treat your water other than with potassium permanganate.

    Water softener problem - advice?

So what you are saying is that with a venturi of .3 and a BLFC of .5 than the BLFC can not control the flow out of the brine tank.

    Water softener problem - advice?

Lets stay on point. You stated the BLFC controlled flow out of the brine tank. This is why I said you are wrong. What causes the flow of water out of the brine tank? The venturi correct? If the venturi has a flow rate of .3 gpm, then the amount of vaccum is based on that flow. Change the flow...

    EcoWater System Parts - Help

JayT I found out the kit comes with the rotors and seals and he said a few other o-rings. Each rotor has o-rings on the ends so I think that is what the few are. Post your e-mail and we can make arrangements to get them shipped to you.

    Water softener problem - advice?

Lets get back on track. Show me where you stated that both BLFC and injector control flow out of the brine tank. I would still like you to prove the BLFC controls the flow out of the brine tank. You haven't which means you are wrong but will not admit it. There is a reason there is a gap so the...

    Water softener problem - advice?

Here is a link to prove you wrong. They talk about changing the venturi to change the rate of brine draw flow but say nothing about the BLFC. http://www.watertreatmentguide.com/achieving_brine_efficiency_in_softening.htm

    Water softener problem - advice?

Please show me where you stated both the injector and BLFC control flow from the brine tank. I'm here to say that is not, repeat not, the case. The flow rate will not change by placing a bigger BLFC in the unit. It will, however, change if you place a bigger venturi. Please prove to me...

    Water softener problem - advice?

No, not at all. You said the BLFC controled flow out of the brine tank. You agreed that there is a gap in the BLFC for the brine to go around. I'm just trying to figure out how in the world you could think the BLFC controlled flow out of the brine tank when: 1. Water will follow the path of...

    Water softener problem - advice?

Well then, if the injector size changed then the flow rate would not change according to your theory that the BLFC control flow out of the brine tank correct?

    WHES30 not working

An error code shows a fault with the electronics. If you have replaced all other electronic parts and it is still doning the same thing than the control board may be at fault. I don't know of anyone who repairs the boards. You might want to replace the board or the unit.

    Water softener problem - advice?

So in other words, if the BLFC is changed (bigger or smaller), the rate of brine draw will be changed? Is that what you are saying?

    Water softener problem - advice?

As I stated "floating" may not have beed the proper word. The BLFC is not, repeat not in a fixed postion so it can move during the brine draw, which will allow the brine water to go around the BLFC so it does not control the flow out of the brine as you stated. The water flow during a refill...

    Water softener problem - advice?

Maybe floating was not the right word, but the BLFC is not in a fix postion. It will move within it's holder. The Autotrol has a ball which controls the flow. Once pressure is applied (brine fill), the ball seats and allows only X amount through the port. Again, in a draw cycle, the ball moves...

    Water softener problem - advice?

There are different sizes of BLFC.... .25, .5 and 1.0. Now if a unit had a .5 (common size) with 3 gallons of water in the brine tank, the brine would be drawn in 6 minutes if the BLFC controlled flow out of the brine tank. We all know the brine draw time is about 20 minutes. It is the venturi...
