Help with BAD water hammer from a long downhill run!

Thanks! Definitely worth a try. I just bought one of the larger ones on **** for $18.00. Let's see if this works. If not, I might try a pressure reducing valve at the stem wall. Anybody know how to calculate the pressure gain for a ~35 foot drop? 40PSI at the hydrant would be plenty...

Help with BAD water hammer from a long downhill run!

I just thought they might not be robust enough. Do you believe otherwise? There is a big force at work. Not just a dishwasher solenoid on level 1/2" pipe. Matt

Help with BAD water hammer from a long downhill run!

I have a long downhill run from my utility room to a lawn hydrant. Buried run is about 150' long (3/4" black poly)and there is an elevation drop of at least 32'. As any plumber would guess, there is a severe water hammer in the house when there is any action on the hydrant below. There's...

Severe Water Hammer from long downhill run.

Any advice? I have a 36" hydrant (quick close) and a 3/4" black poly line in approximately a 200' run with about 36' of elevation drop. In other words, my hydrant is WAY downhill from my home. When the hydrant is turned off, there is a HUGE shock wave that hammers the pipes in my house hard...

    Marble entry way

If you want to go the full sanding route, I would only use a drum sander or an edger if it is a small area. Maybe the 12x18 pad sander would work as well. Your can rent them all. Might even have to go to a progression of grits, like36/80/100/150 I'd try all classes of solvents first...

    Bathroom Remodel - Toilet Relocation

I thought a 1 1/2" line was recommended for a shower or tub due to the self scouring ability? Maybe not... Matt

Solution to P-trap gas from self siphoning?

REVISED: Solution to P-trap gas from self siphoning? Thanks for the responses. House venting should be adequate. I have at least 2 ea 2" vents through the roof. All home plumbing is new (as of two years ago). But the problem didn't start until sometime after I changed the drain exit...

Solution to P-trap gas from self siphoning?

Just finished making some major changes to my drain and septic systems and I've created a problem with sewer gas. Can I get some advice on fixing? I rerouted my main 3" drain pipe to exit from a different point in my house, closer to my new septic tank. Used to have a pretty gentle slope...

    Ejector Pump Installation Question

re. Ejector Pump Installation Question Alex, I'll leave the plumbing questions to the plumbers, but stay away from the concrete wall at least 24" to be safe. Your footings (not headers) probably extend from beyond the wall 6" or so, but depending on age of home, engineering, etc, could be much...

Recirc Pump with Takagi Instant H20 Htr

HJ, the circuit is fairly small. I'd estimate it at about 50' of 1/2" CU. The pump I'm looking at has both an adjustable thermostat and a timer, so I wouldn't be heating all day, probably just early AM and evenings, and then just to 95 degreees for twenty minute intervals during those periods...

Recirc Pump with Takagi Instant H20 Htr

Takes over 60 seconds to get hot water at my kitchen sink, so I need to hook up my recirc pump myself since my plumber flaked out on me. I have a old home with all new supply piping including a 1/2 recirc line. Water heater is an instant hot Takagi TKD-20 that requires 3/4 Gallons per minute...
