Suggestions to Secure a Valve Box from theft

Not true. A one way security screw has a head that is nearly flat. There is nothing to grab with the channel locks or vise grips.

Suggestions to Secure a Valve Box from theft

A security bolt is a great idea. There are some heads that are just downright crazy. Sure you can get into them, but the key is time. Anything that takes thieves more than a few minutes to crack is just not worth it in their mind. They will just move on. In the school where I work they use...

Hoquiam High School gets hit by Meteor

My only real memory of Hoquiam was from when I was a little kid. We were driving through on our way to Ocean Shores and we stopped to get something to eat. We were about to get out of the car and there is this drunk guy beating the crap out of a lady. It was the most bizarre thing I've ever seen...

Removing Latex Paint From Wood Floor

Try Goof Off. I have used it with good success in many paint clean ups. Spray some on and let it work in. Cover it with saran wrap to keep it moist then work it off with a plastic putty knife after it soaks up a while. I figured out the plastic wrap thing when I was using it on DIF gel that I...

    Obtaining plumbing license

I've been thinking about going for it too. I am a school teacher and have down time in the summer. I am either going to figure out this plumbing thing or go get a doctorate. On one hand, it would be nice to have a doctorate. On the other hand, I really like working with my hands and I...

I need some looooong dishwasher hoses.

I have to run some hoses from the dishwasher over to the sink, which is two+ cabinets away. What should I use? I can't find any premade ones at the hardware store that are long enough. I think in order to run them at the back of the cabinet and clamp them down out of the way (and around corners)...

Trying to fix a major mess in the kitchen.

I took the other pictures down as I am working on taking some better ones. They just showed all of the junk that I had pulled out of the closet in order to get to the attic yesterday to install new lighting. Directly above the kitchen is the attic and then the roof. The pipe runs straight to...

    KISW Foul Balls softball

KISW is still around eh? I grew up in Federal Way, but haven't been back in quite a few years. I was actually just looking at my old KISW Rock t-shirt this morning and I almost wore it. What a coincidence.

Trying to fix a major mess in the kitchen.

A lot of living indeed. We are in the process of remodeling the entire house all at once. My wife and I are both teachers so we are trying to get it all done this summer. We have gotten quite a bit done already. We have 2 bathrooms that are set. We are almost done painting. We've redone our...

What do you guys think of the floor? Pretty classy eh? How about my garbage bag that I need to take out? :D

Trying to fix a major mess in the kitchen.

That's what I'm thinking about doing. Kind of my worry is that I rip out all of the cabinets and then find that I have a major headache even getting new ones to fit, and that my dishwasher still has to stay off to the left there. In that case I might as well just sand the cabinets down, repaint...

Trying to fix a major mess in the kitchen.

Ok, here are pictures. As you can see, it is the world's ugliest kitchen (hence the remodel). We also have junk out everywhere as we are moving things hither and thither trying to get everything remodeled in the whole house at once. The first picture is of the drain pipe running down through a...

Trying to fix a major mess in the kitchen.

I'll take some pictures tonight and post them. As you walk straight in you see the sink in front of you. It is against an outside wall with a window directly above it. On your right is the range and fridge. On your left is the dishwasher. It will make more sense when I put pictures up. Yes...

    Installing Subfloor for Vinyl Tile

Ahh, a cement floor. I've never secured plywood to a cement floor personally. I've always attached it to a wood subfloor in upstairs rooms. You can attach vinyl directly to concrete. Just make sure you level it properly first.

    Installing Subfloor for Vinyl Tile

I've done a few sheet vinyl floors. I always use the presanded 1/4" plywood (make sure you use the sanded side up). I always secure it with 6d ring nails. Then roll on floor primer (I believe Armstrong was the brand I used last). It's sort of just like thinned out Elmer's Glue. Use floor...

Trying to fix a major mess in the kitchen.

I am currently remodeling and am trying to fix what was done by the previous homeowner. At this point I'm trying to figure out what my options are. I have a "U" shaped kitchen. It has a sink straight ahead (on the bottom of the U). The range and fridge are on one side and a dishwasher is on the...

Plumbing experts, I need your help on two faucets!

Thanks Thanks for the tips guys. I got it taken care of. It was a piece of cake. The rubber washers on the back were just dried up. I took the stems out, put new washers on them and it was good as new.

Plumbing experts, I need your help on two faucets!

Thanks Thanks for the advice hj! Ok, now my last bit of info I need is do I need to remove these pieces before I take out the stems? Or how do the stems come out? Do I just pull them? In the past I've replaced the cartridge style, or the type where you took of a nut and then pulled it out to...
