Outside spigot - possible freezing problem?

Came home to a small flood today in the garage which is slightly lower than the rest of the basement of my raised ranch. Recently finished some plumbing projects in the basement including moving my washer/dryer location as well as the hot water heater and also added a half bathroom...

    Another washing machine relocation thread!

In the middle of redoing my laundry/furnace room. I have already changed the location of my electric water heater and now ready to work on the laundry stuff. Moving things around to pick up some room to add a half bath while finishing my basement. Original setup had the washer dumping into...

Oil hot water heater vs electric

The more I think about it I think you are right. Would have to cut a hole in the chimney for the venting, deal with the plumbing of the oil line and circuit changes probably isn't worth the hassle. Was trying to do something to bring my electric bill down. Have a brother-in-law who insists...

Oil hot water heater vs electric

I have a 50 gallon electric hot water heater that I am thinking of replacing when I rearrange my furnace/laundry room. I have been told that an oil fired unit is much more efficient and has better recovery times. I have an oil fired hot air furnace so I have a chimney right near where I...

    Joining ABS to PVC

Well, I think I am going to just rip out the ABS where it goes into the CI drain and use a ty-seal with the PVC. I hear those are a bear to put in though. On the other end where I plan on keeping the ABS I will use some no-hub connectors.

    Joining ABS to PVC

Is this against code? My house is plumbed with ABS but I have access to a lot of PVC fittings/pipe and want to know if I can join them together. Which glue should I use if it is OK?

    Toilet in basement

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am in the process of remodeling the basement of my 1970 built raised ranch. The raised ranch next to mine was built by the same builder and has a half bath in the basement and I want to add one to mine. There was...
