Hi Guys,

Long time browser, first time poster.

Relocating the shower drain in a bathroom remodel. Drain is now ~8" further from the old location. I'm redoing most of it because the builder had zero slope in the 2" drain (fed both shower and soaker tub). Not sure how that passed inspection.

The main issue is that I can't decide if it is better to use two 45s on their side to get the pipe where I need it, or to use the p-trap and a 90 and keep the line totally straight. The drain would be in the middle of a 2 foot cantilever.

If I use the 45s it keeps the p-trap parallel with the joist bay and has it sitting closer to the "house."
If I keep the pipe totally straight, then I can rotate the p-trap and have it perpendicular to the joist bay, and use a 90 on the end to tie in?
Or, is there a better way?

The tie into the vent stack is horizontal, before it goes vertical, so I'm using a wye and a street 45.

Attached a poor mans sketch with the current (left) and proposed (right) using 45s. This is an overhead view.

Thanks!

I've 45'd it and 90'd it.
The 90 would be a long turn.
Either way you have 90 degrees of the allowed 135 degrees on the trap arm.
You're fine either way.
