So I have the classic signs of the main drain being clogged (toilet bubbling while running the dishwasher/clothes washer). I found the access in the front flower bed right next to the water faucet. Problem is where I expected to find a cap to access the drain and begin the process of cleaning it out, there is none. There's the metal pipe and then what looks like a PVC sleeve? Do I remove the sleeve? I will include a couple of photos. Thanks in advance to anyone who help me out with this one, I'm not much of a plumber.

You could try rodding from the roof vent. You could lift the toilet and rod there.

You could dig a new hole below your pictures and add a PVC cleanout that outside of your pit.

Thanks, had not thought of pulling the toilet, I'll try that first.

That would be my LAST option, not the first, because, unless you have an inferior snake it will be very difficult to go through the floor opening and have it make an "S" turn and go DOWN the pipe, (it's natural tendency is going to be to make a big "U" and go UP the pipe).

There should be a clean inside out prior to the soil live going outside
