We have had this toilet for approx. 4 years, we have had no problems with leakage, water levels, etc., However about 3 months ago it became noticeable that when flushing the toilet, the trip lever was very difficult to push down. Took a lot of strength. I called Kohler and replaced the trip lever for $17.00. I installed myself, really easy, and had the exact same outcome as the one I replaced. Very difficult to push down, no glide, no softness, only a clang.
Called Kohler back, never offered me any consideration for a part I did not need, and told me to adjust a clip on the bottom of the canister. Since I could not see any clips, only the place the chain connects to on the canister, I haven't done anything. Would appreciate any input on what the problem could be? Also watched a video a few moments ago on changing the seal on the bottom of the canister, but if that isn't the problem, why go there? The toilet itself performs beautifully, just flushing with the handle is awful!
