I'm an avid DIY'er who loves to conquer just about any challenge that my house throws at me. The most important thing I learned from my dad is that the hardest part of any project is believing you can do it. If you attack them all with "yeah, I can do that" as your plan of action, it works out in the end. The only caveat I've found to that is to have a realistic understanding of your limitations, both in knowledge and the tools you may have available.
