    regen question

If a softener with a Clack valve tries to regen while the valve is in by-pass, what will happen? I'm assuming that it won't actually regen, but will anything detrimental happen to the valve? Should another regen be performed after the valve is returned to the normal, non-bypass position...

    OK to up the pressure?

Thanks W.O.P.....it's a submersible pump, but I am unsure of the HP. I should call the driller and ask them what they installed. The pump seems to be cycling fine now. Any reason why they would set the pressure switch to 35/55 instead of 40/60?

    OK to up the pressure?

Hey Andy...thanks for the help. I do know how to adjust the pressure switch and adjust the tank pressure too. I was just wondering if there would be any ill effects by upping the pressure...like the pump cycling more, etc....? I have a 3/4" feed from the tank to a PEX manabloc system. No water...

    OK to up the pressure?

My pressure sw. is currently set to 35/55 and I have 33 psi in the pressure tank when empty. Any reason I cant up this to 40/60 to get a bit more pressure to the 2nd floor showers? Thanks

    Shared neutral

yes...a two pole breaker, or double pole breaker is used on the range, electric dryer, and heat pump. A double pole 30 amp breaker is just that...two 30 amp breakers. Each leg of that circuit is capable of carrying 30 amps, and the wire must be sized accordingly.

How to clamp/fasten gas pipe to wall

jadnashua was explaining these. They are called split rings. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/5E589 and the wall plates: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/guideBrowse.shtml Then you can use whatever length of "all thread" or threaded rod you need.

Recommendation for Sand or Spin-down filter?

Gary, I have not purchased a softener for myself yet....just looking for inforamtion.Next week, I am helping my father install his softener that he purchased. I may not be buying my softener for a few months...probably after the holidays, but I was thinking of dealing with the minor sediment...

Recommendation for Sand or Spin-down filter?

My water is clear, not cloudy at all. No bacteria, nitrate, or nitrite. (It was tested by a lab recently) So I'm not looking for a whole house filter...other than reducing sediment. I have 105 ppm of hardness, and 1.2 ppm of iron. But we do have a bit of sand or grit in the water. But, it...

Recommendation for Sand or Spin-down filter?

Do you dislike them because they need attention from the homeowner? Or do they cause a substantial pressure loss? Don't filter well enough? Just trying to figure out why you think are a poor choice for minor sand/grit problem. They seem to be a better solution than cartridge sediement...

Recommendation for Sand or Spin-down filter?

Speedbump....how do you feel about spin-down filters for lesser sand problems? I get some sand, but don't think I need a big backflushing sand filter. These can be manually flushed out.

    approved drain line material

So I called the local building inspector and talked to him about installing my water softener. I told him that I plan on draining the unit into the floor drain, and he is fine with that, but he said that I must have an air gap of a couple of inches, and I must use an approved material for the...

    softener piping question

As mentioned in another post, I am installing a softener with a Clack WS-1 valve. I had intended on making this a 3 valve system so that the softener could be totally bypassed if needed. Is this not a good idea because of the section of piping that will have "dead" water trapped in it...

    Female PVC fittings

I am installing the softener in my parents home. There is a section of 1" copper from the meter and then switches over to PEX and up to the manifold. I guess I should just shell out the dough for the crimper and be done with it....
