    1/2" supply and GPM questions

Maybe this will help a bit in determining the water flow available. You can estimate the maximum gpm based on pipe size. This is for bare straight pipe without any valves.

    Low Flow Rain Showerheads

2.5 gpm is low flow. Most people complain about low flow rain type shower heads as it is. Reducing the flow any more would be called a mist type shower. Back before low flow shower heads were available, I made a few flow restrictors using dimes. Drill a tiny hole through the center of the...

    which shower head is best?

My favorite shower head is the Giessdorf 8 Jet. Doesn't remove any chlorine and puts out too much water to use effectively with a carbon filter, but what a great shower! I've been using one for years now and still looks new.

3 way showerhead to handspray diverter

Don't know of any high quality diverter valves that are 3 way. Let me know if you find one. As for a leaking hose, sounds like a washer problem. Try lubricating the washer with plumbers grease or vaseline. This makes it easier to tighten and seal. Over tightening can force the washer up...

new shower head, no hot water

Sounds like it's the shower head, but it can't be. A shower head simply allows water to pass through and doesn't regulate hot or cold. Although there are some that have an anti-scald feature, these simply shut the flow off when too hot. The idea of the tankless water heater makes sense because...

Low Water Pressure to Shower only - Tub fine

Sounds like a low flow mixer valve. Is that new also? Restricts the shower head line but not the tub line (otherwise it would take forever to fill the tub.)

    Sterling shower door explodes

I've had it happen to me. Tempered glass will shatter into a million pieces when tweaked.

help! we need a good showerhead!

Try Neatitems.com. I live in Mexico and have very little water pressure. The heads I've purchased from them and brought down here are great.

    Shower slide bar

Another option... ...why not stay with the slide rail you have and install a regular handshower wall bracket either above or below the slide rail? We did this in our shower/tub so that the handshower can be within easy reach while sitting in the tub.

    Shower plumbing question

A quick 'almost' fix would be a flow control valve behind your shower head. Most valves are not 100% shut-offs but it would at least reduce the shower head flow down to a drip or minimal trickle.

Handheld Shower with fixed head combo

shower head and handheld I would recommend an in-wall diverter valve and 2 outlets. 1 outlet in the 'standard' location for a wall type shower head and the other outlet at whatever position looks good to you for the hose. Adding a 90 degree wall union will let the hose hang down nicely against...

From one shower head to two.

5 gpm Not much flow through a bare pipe. You'll need to stay with shower heads that perform okay with 2.5 gpm flow rate. Most of the dual shower head sets that I have installed have been with the flow restrictors removed and with flow control valves installed. You may be happy with a set like...

From one shower head to two.

flow rate I have installed dual shower heads on several showers. The key is the flow rate out the bare pipe. Some mixer valves are low flow and won't allow much water through so a dual shower set isn't going to work well with them. Fortunately, most mixers are not of the low flow variety. Take...
