I have 3/4" 1/4-turn hose bibs. I believe these are a ball valve mechanism. Unfortunately, when I irrigate using these valves at low flow, they are very noisy. An unfortunate characteristic of ball valves.

Is there a 3/4" hose bib valve that is quieter, yet has the nice washerless performance and long life of the ball valve? I know old-school washer faucets are quieter at part open, but I don't want faucet maintenance.

HOW low flow are you using it? Any valve will create turbulence if the flow creates high velocity as it passes through a very small opening.

Probably in the range of 2 - 4 GPM. I know there will be some noise as I reduce flow, but I'm also pretty sure that ball valves are notoriously noisy at part open.

I'm just looking for recommendations of modern hose bibs that aren't quite so noisy. Perhaps a gate valve style would be quieter? I know the old fashioned washered hose bibs are reasonably quiet at part open.

I've been using the Legend frost free hosebibs. They seem pretty quiet.
