No water pressure at kitchen faucet.

Hi. I am dealing with a weird problem that has me stumped. The water was coming out of the faucet just great yesterday. And then this morning it would slow to a trickle. I pulled the supply lines out, both hot and cold and ran them into a bucket. Water came rushing out. Good water pressure through the lines.

So I went to home depot today and picked me up a new Glacier bay 17 dollar faucet. (one of those plastic ones) and still the same problem.

I have great water pressure at the rest of the faucets in the house.

Any ideas on what could be causing this problem. I want to get my kitchen water back lol.


I've already checked the aerator. And another thing. When I loosen the supply lines the water wants to come out of the faucet just for a bit then slow down.

It will also start to come out when I unscrew and take off the spout. This is really weird to me and I have never seen anything like it before.

I've never had this problem before.

Okay. Just took the cartridge out of the faucet to check for any obstructions and nothing. I then got a clothes hanger and ran it down through the little hole that leads to the supply line. As soon as I got through the supply line the water comes gushing out. But then when I shut the water back off and put the cartridge back in. The water comes on for a bit and then slows to a trickle once again.

And then no water.

If water gushes out of the supply lines, then you would think the faucet would be the problem.
Since two different faucets are causing you grief, it is a puzzle.

Good call!
I would check your water supplies. If they are Flood Safe, remove them.

Thanks Terry and Smooky. I found another faucet that I had taken out of an old house and installed it. And after a few trickles and speeding up and slowing down. I so far now have full water pressure.

I believe it was both those faucets. I'm now letting it run for a bit. Just in case something is in the lines somewhere.

The lines are just those grey polyethylene lines. No Floodsafe ones.

Hope it continues to work.

Just thought I would update you.

This is the cheap and crappy faucet that I bought and will never buy again.

Glacier Bay Faucet Home Depot

I decided to try and blow some air through the spout itself with my mouth and I could hardly get any air through it. My cheeks would puff out with air and not let all the air from myself through it. lol I looked like I was holding my breath.

What a crappy faucet. No wonder it wouldn't let much water through it.

I'll just keep it for the aerator, handles and seals. Most of the parts will fit my other cheap faucet. When I do get the money. I plan on buying a good faucet no matter how much it costs. Never again will I buy one of these el cheapos crapo's.

So true. I have full water pressure now. I noticed when I turned on the tub today some pieces of rubber came out. Not sure if it was down in the pipe causing the obstruction or what. But at least it now is fixed and still have water.

I was gonna take it back tomorrow when I was heading back into town tomorrow. But decided to try my old long spout from my other faucet and the faucet is now working like it should. So problem was mainly in the spout. It had a tiny passageway.

Next faucet will be a good one. I got the idea to put the old taller spout from my old faucet on the new one and you know the faucet actually works like it should now.

The spout was way to restrictive. The spout that came with the new faucet had just a tiny pathway for the water to go through.

The old spout is just a long curved 1/2" brass pipe.

The spout fit the faucet just fine and got full pressure. So I am now able to use my new faucet. The old one was leaking a bit and not shutting off all the way.

So the problem was in the spout. I think I'll just throw the spout that came with the new faucet away.

The reason for the tiny holes was probably a water saving feature.

I like to be green and save and all. But I would like to fill a glass with water sooner than 5 minutes. And I'd like to get my dishes done sooner and not have to wait for 20 minutes for the sink to fill up with water.

Then the time it takes to rinse the dishes. lol

I'll just keep the faucet and use it till I can afford a better one.
