stubborn shower drain thing

the picture looks yellow but the shower is sparkling white.
wife want to remove this thing to clean under it.
stop laughing.
how do we remove it?

PS it is a 6 year old house

Best answer is don't. But it is just pressed in. See those little slots on the sides? A screwdriver there would just pop it up, but the base and the drain are in jeopard of scratching. If it were chrome, you just put a screwdriver into the holes and pop it. Can't do that with white.


Best bet....pop it out, then replace with chrome.

but those slots at the side are NOT indented, nothing for the screwdriver to get under!
